Terms

Plain-English terms. These apply when you use any part of Gridscoot — the website, the MCP server, the REST API, or any data Gridscoot returns. By using Gridscoot you accept these terms; if you don't accept them, don't use Gridscoot.

What this is

Gridscoot is a free information aggregation service for Australian retail price discovery, surfaced via an MCP server (primary surface) and a public REST API (secondary). Gridscoot aggregates prices, stock signals, and product metadata from retailer affiliate feeds and public sources, deduplicates products by barcode, and surfaces what it observed at the time of observation.

Throughout these terms, "Gridscoot", "we", "us", and "our" mean the operator of the Gridscoot service. "You" means any person or system that uses Gridscoot, whether anonymously, through an API key, or through an agent acting on your behalf.

02

No warranty on data

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gridscoot is provided "as is" and "as observed". We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about any of the following:

All implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment are excluded to the maximum extent permitted by law. See §10 below for what cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

03

No reliance on Gridscoot data

You must not rely on Gridscoot data as the sole basis for any purchase, financial, legal, safety, or operational decision. Always verify price, availability, product identity, and retailer terms directly at the retailer before purchasing or committing.

Gridscoot is a discovery aid. It is not financial advice, legal advice, product advice, or a substitute for due diligence. If an agent acts on Gridscoot data on your behalf, the verification obligation still rests with you.

04

We are not a seller or retailer

Gridscoot is not a retailer, marketplace, broker, or agent of any retailer. We do not:

When you click an outbound link from Gridscoot to a retailer and purchase a product, your contract is between you and that retailer, on the retailer's own terms. We have no involvement in, and accept no responsibility for, the formation, performance, or breach of that contract.

05

Affiliate disclosure

Outbound links to retailers may carry affiliate tracking parameters. If you complete a qualifying purchase after following such a link, the retailer pays Gridscoot a commission. You pay the same retailer price either way— the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not yours. Affiliate networks currently in use or pending include eBay Partner Network, Commission Factory, and Amazon Associates Australia.

We do not reorder, re-rank, or otherwise adjust our results to favour higher-commission retailers. Ranking is algorithmic and the same data is available via the public REST API for independent verification. See /about for the ranking method and /privacy for what we collect.

06

Acceptable use

When you use Gridscoot you agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate access for any account or anonymous source we reasonably believe is in breach of these terms, without notice and without refund (the service is free; there is nothing to refund).

07

Service availability + force majeure

We aim to keep Gridscoot available but make no formal service-level commitments during early access. The service depends on third-party providers (hosting, database, retailer feeds, affiliate networks, embedding providers, email providers) and on the public internet. Outages, delays, data loss, or degraded results caused by any of those providers, or by events beyond our reasonable control (including but not limited to denial-of-service attacks, regulatory action, provider insolvency, telecommunications failure, fire, flood, or pandemic), are not the responsibility of Gridscoot.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service or any tool, endpoint, or feature at any time, with or without notice. Where reasonably practicable we will announce material changes on the landing page and to registered users.

08

Limitation of liability

Subject to §10 (Australian Consumer Law), and to the maximum extent permitted by law:

09

Your indemnity

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Gridscoot, its operator(s), and any contributors, against any claim, demand, loss, liability, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

10

Australian Consumer Law

Where the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any equivalent state legislation applies and gives you rights or guarantees that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by these terms, then to the extent of that application:

This section §10 prevails over any inconsistent provision elsewhere in these terms.

11

Changes to these terms

We may amend these terms at any time. The version, effective date, and revision history are shown at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on the landing page and, where we hold a contact email for you, by email. Your continued use of Gridscoot after the effective date of an amendment is your acceptance of the amended terms.

12

Severability + entire agreement

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid, unenforceable, or illegal in any jurisdiction, that provision is to be read down to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable in that jurisdiction, and the remainder of the terms continues in full force and effect.

These terms, together with our Privacy policy and any additional notices we publish for a specific feature or interface, constitute the entire agreement between you and Gridscoot in relation to the service, and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, whether oral or written.

No failure or delay by Gridscoot to enforce any provision of these terms operates as a waiver of that provision. You may not assign these terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them to a successor in connection with a transfer of the service.

13

Governing law + jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law in force in New South Wales, Australia. You and Gridscoot submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and the courts competent to hear appeals from them. Disputes that fall under the Australian Consumer Law may also be brought through the appropriate state and federal consumer-protection channels.
